Love your Burial Ground Week 2023

Dosbarth 1 and 2 had a lovely afternoon at Gladestry Church spending time in our very beautiful church yard. The Eco committee planned lots of activities for us which involved a scavenger hunt, drawing and painting pictures and identifying different types of trees. We spent the morning preparing some healthy fruit kebabs and decorating biscuits so that we could enjoy a picnic at the Church too. We found out lots of new things about our church yard and were able to appreciate just how special it is. Da iawn pawb!

Pentre Farm

We had a fantastic morning at the Village Hall meeting all of the very cute animals from Pentre Farm. We were lucky enough to hold, brush and walk some of the animals. Dosbarth 1 were very tempted to get a class pet for themselves (even if they did try to nibble our jackets!) Diolch yn fawr iawn!

Ga i groeso'r afon?

Dosbarth 1 had great fun in Health and Wellbeing yesterday! After our journey from Gladestry to Brecon for our topic, we thought that we would see if we could cross the River Usk. We had to ask the question ‘Ga i groeso’r afon?’ and we could only cross if we were wearing certain colours. Da iawn pawb for remembering the colours in Welsh!

King Charles III Coronation Celebration

All of the pupils at Gladestry had a great week last week in preparation for the King’s coronation. They designed their own coronation bunting to decorate the classroom for our celebration, created finger painted British flags to wave and even drew some beautiful portraits of King Charles to display on our windows! We then invited our adults in to celebrate with us on Friday where we enjoyed tea and cakes and sang our coronation songs. Bendigedig Dosbarth 1 and 2!

Welly Walk around Gladestry Village.

Dosbarth 1 have enjoyed starting their new topic ‘journeys’ this term. To start our topic, we have been learning about the difference between human and physical features. We went for a welly walk around Gladestry to see what features we could spot. The children recognised lots of different features and took some great photographs. We have worked really hard to sort our photographs and we have now started to compare our local area to Brecon as a much bigger town. Da iawn, Dosbarth 1!

Pasg Hapus pawb!

Dosbarth 1 have been learning all about the Easter story and what happened on the days leading up to Easter Sunday. We have created our own suncatcher crosses as part of our Easter window display – they are looking beautiful today in the sunshine!

World Book Day

On Wednesday, Class 1 brought in their own favourite books to share with the rest of the children in school. We found out lots of new exciting facts and read some new stories too! We were very lucky to engage in a live session with Julia Donalson and Axel Scheffler and we had a go at drawing some of the characters from their books. We designed our own monster as the gruffalo had decided to retire!
