Dosbarth 1 have been learning all about the Easter story and what happened on the days leading up to Easter Sunday. We have created our own suncatcher crosses as part of our Easter window display – they are looking beautiful today in the sunshine!

On Wednesday, Class 1 brought in their own favourite books to share with the rest of the children in school. We found out lots of new exciting facts and read some new stories too! We were very lucky to engage in a live session with Julia Donalson and Axel Scheffler and we had a go at drawing some of the characters from their books. We designed our own monster as the gruffalo had decided to retire!
To celebrate Children’s Mental Health Week, the children in Dosbarth 1 and 2 have ‘Dressed to Express’ by coming to school as what they would like to be when they are older. We have had an excellent day filled with fun activities to find out more about our friends and talk about how we are similar and different. We worked in groups to learn a new dance, complete some team games outside, create a puzzle piece all about ourselves and play connect bingo. What a brilliant way to end our week!
Class 1 were very lucky to have a visit from PC Viv this morning. We learnt all about how to keep ourselves safe at home, and what we can do if we are ever feeling unsafe. We listened to a story which helped us to think about how we can stay away from danger and protect ourselves in different situations. We also learnt about the different adults that can help us and how we can talk to them. Diolch PC Viv!
This afternoon we made Dragon eyes. Our inspiration was from all of the Dragons we saw on our School Trip at ‘King Arthur’s Labrinth’. We made different types of eyes, some were spotty, bumpy, round and scaly. We enjoyed rolling, pinching, smoothing, stabbing and patting the clay to make the dragon eyes.
We went on a Welly Walk to Gladestry Church Peace Garden. We used our senses to identify things we could smell, see, touch and hear. After we worked in groups to collect natural materials and create a picture of an animal of our choice (we made a giraffe, bird’s nest and bird). We decided to collect red, brown and green leaves to bring back to school to create a dragon like the one we saw at King Arthur’s Labrinth.
Gladestry School pupils went on a School Trip to King Arthur’s Labyrinth in Machynlleth. We travelled together on the big coach and enjoyed lots of exciting activities. We walked and sailed by boat through the caves to listen about Kind Arthur’s story, it was dark! We went to the gift shop and paid for our items and travelled through the spooky maze to find the dragons, we saw lots of them!
We are looking forward to writing about our trip when we come back to school.
